Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. At the age of five years old and moved to Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma decided to be an actor at age six. Over the course of several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing dance, acting and singing. From the age of 10 the actress took part in and performed the main role in numerous Stagecoach School plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version from J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book began in 1999. Casting agents discovered Emma through her Oxford theatre teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, producer David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast as the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance in a film was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001 The film broke records for its debut day revenue as well as its opening weekend earnings. Reviewers praised the film, and especially the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British paper, praised her for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance was nominated and won five awards later for the movie.
