Madhuri dixit Madhuri dixit Indian actress known for her work in the film Hum Aapke Hain Koun (Beta Saajan) and Beta Saajan is one of the most popular Indian actors. In the 80s, she began acting becoming popular due to her role of Tezaab where she was portrayed by the veteran actor Anil Kapooor. Then, she starred alongside Aamir as part of Dil. In Mumbai the city she was born by middle class parents. From a very early age, she began to take dance lessons. At the age of 15 She began acting but had a difficult time as a majority of her films were flops. She eventually found success and was able to establish herself as one of the top actresses in the Indian film industry. Following her marriage, she took a career break prior to returning to the entertainment industry. She was also an important role in the film Gulaab Gang which was about the struggle of women within India. Dixit was nominated in fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these, she has won 8. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian distinction in India. Her contribution to the social sector is well known.
